Young adults in Prague’s hinterland

Young adults in the municipalities of Prague’s hinterland

(2002 – 2017)

The process of residential suburbanization in the Prague metropolitan region slowly started during the 1990s and its intensity increased over time until the advent of the economic crisis (2009), as a result of which it declined in the following years. At present, the descendants of the first generation of suburban inhabitants are entering a life phase in which they move from their parents to their first independent residence. It can be assumed that this mechanism of uneven development of suburban areas will increase significantly in the coming years with a growing cohort of adolescents and there will be some change in the demographic structure of the suburban population. The aim of the application is to identify the migration processes connected to growing up of young adults (18–26 years) in Prague’s hinterland and to define the municipalities from which young adults move out.

The application and its detailed description are available in Czech only.
