Urban space and migration of inhabitants
One of the long-term consequences of globalization is migration of people towards big cities and expansion of agglomeration zones. It leads to continuous changes in the character and functions of urban space as well as in mobility patterns between cities and their hinterlands.
The current applications focus on these questions in the case of the Czech capital, Prague. They consider both evolution within the city (especially residential changes) and the nature of its hinterlands and mobility of the people living there.

Foreigners in the city district of Prague 5
(2012 – 2017)
Using unique data from the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic, this application displays detailed information on the distribution of foreigners in the city district of Prague 5 at the level of basic settlement units.

Zones of residential suburbanization in Czechia
(2010 – 2016)
This map application illustrates the extent of residential suburbanization, one of the most important urban processes in Czechia during recent decades, using an original methodology for delimitation of suburban cores and their satellite regions.
Present population in municipalities of the Central Bohemian Region

The map application shows changes in the number of present population in the municipalities of the Central Bohemian Region and the cadastres of Prague.
Aging and population change in Prague housing estates
(2001 – 2011)
The map application focuses on the transformation of the population of Prague housing estates, specifically on aging of their inhabitants.

The map application illustrates neighbourhood trajectories of Prague inner city by visualizing changes of residents’ social status and age structure.
